Mike Flaherty (a strong Paul Giamatti) is living out his life in his small hometown. He works as a not very successful lawyer; he moonlights as an even less successful high school wrestling coach.
In an attempt to keep his family financially above water, a despondent Mike makes a dubious choice the consequence of which is his guardianship of an elderly client. That gent’s runaway grandson, Kyle (talented newcomer Alex Shaffer) – a troubled former wrestling champ from out of town – ends up living with the Flahertys.
