CAROL’s Take: Peter (Christopher Denham) and Lorna (Nicole Vicius) wheedle their way into the good graces of a minor California cult. Blindfolded and cuffed, they find themselves in the basement of a suburban tract home where they finally meet the leader, Maggie (Brit Marling), who claims to be from the near-future. Peter and Lorna plan to covertly film the group’s activities and expose it to the world. But that intention fades under the sway of Maggie’s powerful presence and intuitive sensibilities.
