Carol’s take:
Thirty-year-old Jeff (a likeable Jason Segel) lives in his mother’s basement where he passes his days watching TV and smoking a bong. He has no job. He has no car.
Jeff’s brother, Pat (Ed Helms), is the “successful” one. His need to appear important comes between him and everyone, including his wife, Linda (Judy Greer).
Pat and Jeff’s widowed mother, Sharon (Susan Sarandon), wonders how she became a lonely, spinster-like office worker who truly dislikes her once cute little boys.
