THE PLOT:
Hollywood stunt driver known only as Driver (Ryan Gosling) moonlights as a driver for various heists. He has one rule for his clients: as soon as his charges exit the car for the heist, they have five minutes; after that, if they are not back, they are on their own. His skill behind the wheel is unmatched and is enhanced by his ultra-cool exterior.
When he meets and falls for next-door neighbor Irene (Carey Mulligan) and her son, he becomes embroiled in a deadly double-cross that threatens everything he holds dear.
Kent’s Take:
“Driver” is a modern play on “the man with no name” made popular by Clint Eastwood.
