At a packed screening of “Bully,” the audience gasped in unison on three separate occasions. Other less collective responses were heard throughout. Some viewers were moved to tears. More were moved to anger.
It’s impossible to overstate the rarity of this kind of reaction to a documentary. But it is possible to rightly claim that “Bully” is an important motion picture.
Lee Hirsch eschews talking heads and self-proclaimed authorities on bullying. Instead, his film follows true experts five children who have been, or are still being, bullied at school.
